RAKTA restarted the e-scooters service in cooperation with “FENIX”

Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) has revealed the restarting of the e-scooters service in cooperation with “FENIX”, by deploying 200 tourist scooters in 10 different vital sites in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. Where the mini mobility units project has an important role to achieve RAKTA’s approved strategic plan for projects (2020-2025).

RAKTA confirmed that this new method is available to all segments and will save time and effort in visiting different sites. Moreover, it will provide them with a more sustainable and smart way to move from one place to another. Where users can access the scooters via the FENIX mobile application, with an AED 3 unlocking fee. Customers can also receive clear in-app safety instructions and local guidelines on how to use the electric vehicles legally and responsibly.

Mr. Mohammed Hashem Esmaeel – Director of Quality Control and Operation Department stated that the launch of the environmentally friendly tourist scooter project will enhance the flexible mobility system in the emirate and provide transportation service to destinations as quickly as possible, especially for short destinations and at reduced costs, as It can be used for entertainment or transportation purpose. However, a field team has been assigned to carry out maintenance operations of scooters and place them in their sites on a daily basis.

FENIX has confirmed its safety measures during the COVID-19 pandemic by carrying out continuous sterilization operations of the fleet. In addition, all scooters are fully insured and supported with advanced safety features provided for the first time with integrated hand sanitization pack to ensure the highest levels of user’s safety.

He also stressed the need for all e-scooter users to adhere to the safety guidelines and instructions set by the authority, such as not exceeding the speed limit 20 kilometers per hour, the user must be 14 years of age and older, do not use or leave the e-scooter in a way that obstructs the movement of vehicles or pedestrians.
