Ras Al Khaimah Department of Human Resources Wins at UAE Innovates 2021 Awards
Ras Al Khaimah Government’s Department of Human Resources wins at the UAE Innovates 2021 Awards – an initiative of the Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation – in the automation of procedures category.
Dr Mohammad Abdul Latif Khalifa, Director-General of Ras Al Khaimah’s Department of Human Resources, applauded his team for the critical role they played in developing work processes, as well as for their positive spirit and hard work.
The Department had a major innovative breakthrough during the COVID-19 pandemic, launching a system that corrects the productive capacity of RAK Government human capital. The system identifies Government staff members whose work capacities could not be accommodated due to developments, strategic shifts and use of technology – be it because of incompatible skills or their work being made redundant. The system then evaluates alternatives and offers opportunities to train them for other employment prospects.
The system aims to:
- Raise government efficiency in hiring human capital.
- Ensure the optimal investment of available human resources in order to achieve the strategic objectives of the government and strike balance between the volume of work required (demand) and the available productive capacity (supply).
- Benefit from the surplus production capacity of the human capital and redistribute staff to other entities in accordance with their operational needs.
- Train and develop human resources to fill new roles in the same or different workplaces, in line with the specifics and requirements of the job.
- Legalize the process of creating new jobs or filling vacancies in the government to meet work requirements.
- Emphasize the role of workforce analysis in supporting strategic shifts and changes in business models.
The system was automated in the second half of 2020, which made it easier for government entities to submit and receive requests – one of the many benefits from automating procedures in the system.
