The Ras Al Khaimah Police General Headquarters is gearing up to launch and activate a new tracking system for license plate numbers that would trace vehicles with pending violations, expired insurance or licenses, or that are wanted by the authorities across the Emirate.

The structure is part of a series of smart systems RAK Police General Headquarters is implementing to support the security and surveillance portion of the smart city project. The system goes into effect on November 7, 2021, with smart ANPR cameras that track license plate numbers belonging to vehicles with pending traffic violations, expired insurance or licenses, or that are wanted in criminal cases. The cameras then issue traffic fines accordingly, ensuring efficiency and saving time and effort for traffic personnel.

The e-Services and Communications Unit at RAK Police General Directorate for Resources & Support Services is tasked with operating the new system, in collaboration with the RAK Police Department of Traffic and Licensing. The wide network of advanced traffic surveillance cameras helps enhance safety and security for motorists, in line with international best practices in road safety.

The Ras Al Khaimah Police General Headquarters calls on motorists and the public in general to take the initiative and settle any pending fines on their vehicles within the set timeframes, in addition to making sure their vehicles have undergone proper technical inspection. This aims to ensure the safety of drivers, passengers, and all road users, allowing them to avoid legal violations.
